I was just curious... If I remember correctly, the World Wrestling Federation lost a lawsuit by the World Wildlife Foundation over the use of the letters WWF and their logo.
Current WWE Logo
Since then the World Wrestling Federation has changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and changed its logo to just be the two Ws without the F part. We all remember the promotion "Get The F Out" lol.
Attitude Era Logo
But not too long ago WWE had a special addition of Monday Night Raw (BTW is it still known as "Raw Is War" or just "Raw" now?) and this special episode was titled "Old School" and during the whole show they used the old logo, the old theme songs, everything was the old WWF style.
Raw Old School
How were they able to do this if they are not legally allowed to use that logo? I mean for years old DVDs of matches during the WWF days had to blur out all the logos on the ring, the turnbuckles, everywhere. Now suddenly they can use it on a new show?
The Original WWF Logo
Did they appeal the lawsuit and gain the rights to the name back? If so why did they only use it one night? Is this all part of the effort to distant the company's self from the idea of "wrestling"? I mean its known as "sports entertainment" now instead of wrestling, and the 'wrestlers' are now known as "in-ring performers."
WWF
I don't understand why the most powerful and well known wrestling company in history would suddenly want to change its ways and no longer be known as a wrestling company.
