Punk's Screams For Ice Cream!
CM Punk might be finding himself embroiled in some of the most brutal battles in recent WWE history – including the first-ever Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship in two weeks – but that doesn’t mean The Voice of the Voiceless has lost his appreciation for the simpler things in life. On the same night he clashed with WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H in a No Disqualification Match, The Straight Edge Savior debuted a new shirt that symbolizes his love for Good Humor’s defunct line of WWE ice cream bars, featuring one of the long-gone frozen treats stamped with his iconic tattooed likeness.
“My inspiration for the shirt? I want the freakin’ ice cream bars back!” Punk matter-of-factly told WWE.com on Monday, less than 24 hours after his Night of Champions collision with The Cerebral Assassin. “I’m still working on that. But in the meantime, I’m going to keep shoving it down people’s throats. Because everyone likes ice cream, which goes in your mouth and then goes down your throat.”
Fair enough, Punk. The outspoken Superstar’s incredibly vocal support for the return of WWE’s popular cookie-and-ice-cream confection was first made public back in July, when Punk’s new WWE contract hinged (at least partially) on the return of the Superstar-emblazoned sandwiches-on-a-stick, unseen on the side of ice cream trucks or in corner store freezers since Good Humor discontinued them in 2009.
Punk got his new contract just weeks after demanding the bars’ return – following a WWE Title victory no less. However, the entire WWE Universe’s hunger for brand-new dairy desserts featuring the likenesses of current Superstars such as WWE Champion John Cena, Randy Orton, World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry and The Straight Edge Superstar himself lingered on. Punk hopes to change all that with his latest fashion statement.
“You know what? There are other ice cream companies out there,” Punk said. “Good Humor, we’re giving you a gift. We’re giving you an option here, and if you don’t want to take it, we will sell our wares elsewhere.”
Still reeling from his controversial Night of Champions defeat at the hands of The Game, the Chicago-born ring warrior ended our interview with a final dig at the COO’s most infamous Punk descriptor.
“I love ice cream,” Punk affirmed. “What can I say? I’m a skinny fat-a**.”
