It seems odd to me that the WWE makes such a big deal about Rey Mysterio getting his mask ripped off by other wrestlers, particularly Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio, because when Rey wrestled in WCW he started out with his mask but after a few years he took it off and wrestled without it. 

When WCW was bought by WWE Rey was not wearing a mask on the last WCW Nitro. In fact, Rey and Billy Kidman won the WCW Cruiserweight Championships together and Rey had no mask and his hair was done up like devil horns. 

Then suddenly he reappeared in the WWE wearing a mask and acting like he would never take it off because it was the most important thing to him in the whole world. Did the WWE expect every wrestling fan in the world to just forget everything that ever happened in WCW, or just the fans under the age of 10, which seems to be the target audience for the WWE now. Oh well, the mask is cool, they sell a lot of merchandise with it, and the kids love it, so go with it, but give the older fans some credit, we do know he hasn't always worn a mask!
